Senior Observability Engineer (SRE)

Austin-based company that offers dynamic and time-based pricing solutions to live entertainment organizations, enabling them to gather information and adjust ticket prices relative to demand.
The company’s solutions are designed to manage more inventory and price more accurately with fewer resources,
maximizing the potential of all your tickets.
They deliver unprecedented pricing and sales data into a single location, providing insights and driving results.
The system consists of a couple of UI sub-projects for promoters, admin, etc., and complex logic on the back end.

PLEASE NOTE! We offer short-term engagement for the project (3-4 months).

Requirements:

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise with AWS technologies, such as EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, EKS, ECR, Route 53, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, etc.
  • Must have hands-on expertise with DataDog.
  • Must have hands-on experience with Terraform.
  • Hands-on Infra architectural knowledge of internet-scale web apps e.g., Load balancers, CDNs.
  • Deep understanding of Docker and ECS container orchestration technology.
  • Deep understanding of cyber security software and systems e.g. SSLs, data encryption algorithms, DarkTrace etc.
  • Proficient in developing scripts and scripting languages.
  • A team player capable of high performance, and flexibility in a dynamic working environment.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
  • English level from Upper-intermediate.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements, and maintains the organization’s observability solutions across the application and infrastructure realms Is an expert, and well-versed in Datadog and related tooling.
  • Knows how to monitor and manage infrastructure, applications (esp. APM), and security through the use of Datadog Develops monitoring and alert strategies in collaboration with other teams and consults with / educates them on best practices with regard to Observability.
  • Helps monitor and manage the costs of observability solution(s).
  • Helps groups analyze and troubleshoot performance and issues across the stack from infrastructure/network through services and application layers.
  • Helps develop dashboards to present key metrics in collaboration with other teams, and in a form that is digestible by various audiences (executive to engineer) participates in, and supports incident response activities through the use of observability systems and data.
  • Stays current on industry best practices and iteratively updates observability tooling to improve effectiveness.
