Senior Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

The mission of the project is to make Wi-Fi great! Our customer is a multi-award-winning Gigabit Internet Service Provider, with products and services connecting over 6 million people a year across a wide range of sectors, including Defence. Our customer is the number 1 provider for recreational WiFi, holiday parks, retail and residential in the UK.

We are looking for a Strong Middle-Senior Software Engineer who will join us in the office or remotely. You will be responsible for all things from programming, continuous improvement, continuous delivery platform, and coding framework that underpins our core products. This role will be supporting the CIO and the rest of the technology team in building the platform/ framework/ DevOps culture.

Requirements:
  • 4+ professional software engineering experience;
  • Extensive proven experience developing in a commercial environment;
  • Demonstrably experience learning new technologies on your own;
  • Experience with at least one JVM programming language (Java, Kotlin);
  • Familiar with SQL databases, either PostgreSQL or MySQL;
  • Knowledge of Git and GitHub;

It would be nice to also have Kotlin experience Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking Experience with Amazon Web Services Mentoring/leadership experience

Responsibilities:
  • Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic, building reusable code and libraries for future use;
  • Contribute to a stable, scalable, and performant code base to provide our users with a great experience;
  • Analyze the performance of the code and optimize it;
  • Being part of our development road map team, developing new modules for our software;
  • Being creative and coming up with new ways to enhance our products using the latest technologies;
  • Work closely with seniors and the leadership team to architect solutions, evaluate existing and emerging technology choices, and steer the overall technical direction.
