This year Ukraine has climbed to 43rd place in the ranking of innovative countries and jumped ahead of Post Soviet countries like Russia, Moldova, and Belarus. Ukraine moved seven steps up compared to the previous year and more than 20 positions over the past three years. We grew in ratings because of rising infrastructure, market and business sophistication, technology, and creative output fields. Important to mention that the international rating agency Moody’s has changed its forecast for the Ukrainian banking system from stable to positive. Earlier, the S&P agency decided to upgrade the Ukrainian long-term rating.
The ranking of innovative countries consists of several indicators. According to the assessment results of these indicators, Ukraine received an index of 38.52 (previous result – 37.6).
In 2017 Ukraine entered the TOP-50 innovative countries of the world by going up from 56th to 50th in the Global Innovation Index rating.
Global Innovation Index – a project based on preliminary calculations, including newly available data and recent studies in measuring innovation. GII is based on key positions that provide innovative activities in every country: infrastructure, human capital and research, and market and business complexity.
