Senior Data Scientist

Austin-based company that offers dynamic and time-based pricing solutions to live entertainment organizations, enabling them to gather information and adjust ticket prices relative to demand.

The client is undertaking a data science project aimed at enhancing its pricing creation process.
Currently, they rely on static algorithms to set prices, as the existing ML model does not fulfill the required standards.
The project was originally developed using R but was transitioned to Python a year ago. The solutions are based on a custom model that needs to be trained.

In the US, most teams have an 8-hour time difference. The working day might be a bit shifted and require availability till 20:00 Ukrainian time.

Requirements:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, Engineering, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in a data science role (3+ years with a Ph.D.),
  • 2+ years of experience where you served as the data science or analytics lead on cross-functional projects,
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and relevant data science packages (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn),
  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and data visualization techniques,
  • Experience with big data technologies and tools (e.g., AWS, Snowflake, DBT, GCP, Spark, Hadoop),
  • Experience communicating and presenting technical insights to leadership and non-technical audiences,
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail,
  • English- Upper-Intermediate.

Responsibilities:

  • Help the client build and improve a pricing creation solution, evaluate different ML models, and select the best one,
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members, including data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to successfully implement data solutions,
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of data analytics projects to solve complex business problems,
  • Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets and extract actionable insights,
  • Guide and build reports in service for business functions,
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand the characteristics of datasets,
  • Develop and implement data preprocessing pipelines to ensure the quality and reliability of data for analysis,
  • Build dimensional and fact tables for use in analytics, reporting, and predictive ML solutions,
  • Lead the end-to-end process of developing, training, and deploying machine learning models (classification, regression, segmentation) for use cases such as customer segmentation, conversion propensity, churn, recommendations, and dynamic pricing,
  • Monitor model performance and refine models post-deployment,
  • Solution and scope of the efforts and resources needed to execute data science solutions,
  • Identify opportunities to create business value through data science projects,
  • Communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
