Senior DevOps Engineer

Fintech project, the purpose of which is to create and maintain banking platforms. Users are bank employees, which is about 10,000. Various platforms are used to serve clients of the bank who would like to invest their money in one of Canada’s largest banks and also internal employees of the bank.

The DevOps team supports all available applications inside banks’ department.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of DevOps experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum Methodologies: Experience working in an Agile environment and understanding of Agile principles and practices.
  • Version Control Systems (VCS): Strong knowledge of Git, SVN, or similar systems.
  • Package managers: Proficiency with build automation tools like Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Ant.
  • Artifact Repositories: Experience with artifact management systems like Nexus or Artifactory.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Travis CI, CircleCI).
  • Programming Languages: Experience with programming ecosystem Java, Python, NodeJS.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar containerization and orchestration tools.
  • Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure, etc.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
  • Configuration Management: Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
    Soft Skills:
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify and fix issues in the build, integration, and deployment processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify root causes and resolve complex build-related issues.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication with developers, QA, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work well within cross-functional teams (development, QA, operations).
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, especially during critical release periods.
  • English level Upper-intermediate and higher.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Dynatrace.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell or Python will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of IBM Urban Code Deploy.
  • Knowledge of OpenShift & Pivotal Cloud foundry.

Responsibilities:

  • Build Automation: Automate and streamline the software build and release processes to ensure reliable and repeatable builds.
  • Versioning and Tagging: Manage version control, tagging, and branching strategies to maintain consistency across environments.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, deployment, and integration.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to ensure proper integration of code and smooth deployment cycles.
  • Environment Management: Ensure the availability and configuration of environments (e.g., development, staging, production).
  • Release Management: Oversee and coordinate the release cycles, ensuring quality control, release notes, and deployment schedules are adhered to.
  • Error Handling and Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot build failures and deployment issues, working cross-functionally with development and operations teams.
  • Security Scanning: Implementing Security vulnerabilities scanning in CI/CD pipeline.
